After a long and extremely detailed development effort, Humankind successfully
delivers the Dallas Opera website. The aim of this website redesign was to not
only reflect the new branding initiative, but to also allow easier growth and
maintenance in the future.
"The development cycle went down to the last minute, but we delivered. Now
the Dallas Opera not only has a fantastic-looking site, but they can maintain
the site themselves going forward. Unlike many companies, we don't attempt to
lock customers into proprietary systems. On balance, it was a project we were
proud to do," Justin Anderson, Technology Director of Humankind, said.
The Dallas Opera is in a period of change, with the average patron age tending
downwards. Using the Internet more effectively was a logical step forward. The
new site also affords better coverage for the educational and historical sections
that will come to be a large part of the final site.
"Designing the site was a tough challenge. Maintaining a balance between
the needs of the older and younger audiences was tough, and while walking that
tightrope we had to keep in mind we wanted a sophisticated but usable design," Ben
Talplacido, Creative Director of Humankind, said.
The Dallas Opera knew what they wanted to achieve, and, with Humankind's help,
were able to realize it.
