Google Local Search and Mobile Search
By | Published: November 1, 2010
One of Google’s primary areas of focus is obviously search, and they have large teams dedicated to improving the search relevancy and speed. One of their admitted blind spots in the past has been local search, especially in areas outside of the US.
With the rise of smart phones, the importance of local search quality can’t be overstated. In the past week, Google rolled out their huge local search changes and it has dramatically changed the playing field. Local results are now thoroughly and completely integrated into the SERPs, meaning that local search is more important than ever. And it’s important to note that Mobile Google is reported to have 97% of the search marketshare. What am amazing lead in the space!
What does this mean for the average local company?
Since you have a web site to gain leads and customers/clients, take a look to see if it is working well for you. (You do have a site, right??) Google wants you to have success but you may have to give it a shove in the right direction. It is really imperative for you to work hard to get your site on page one, which by some studies gets 95+% of the clicks. If you aren’t on the first page, nobody is going to find you unless they are specifically looking for your company by name.
